CARmencement was Sac State’s alternative to the traditional commencement ceremonies at Golden 1 Center in Downtown Sacramento, this change was of course necessitated by COVID-19 safety concerns and guidelines. In an effort to bring joy and levity to a less than ideal compromise a CARmencement campaign was launched and supported by a mailed invitation, email blast, and social media support graphics. Illustrated elements created in these initial pieces were shared with campus partners and utilized in many additional assets such as campus digital signage, packaging for grad kits, and campus route maps.
I chose to incorporate elements that were reflective of our diverse student population, beloved campus plant and wildlife, and reminiscent of campus locations/landmarks. These illustrated components use a myriad of the University’s approved color palettes and are supported with brand fonts.
